Parks & Recreation Facilities Update

Last Updated 5.8.20

On Friday, May 8, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page announced his guidelines for reopening the County and reducing the current stay-at-home restrictions, which will go into effect on Monday, May 18. Unfortunately, while some businesses will be permitted to resume or continue operations with certain modifications on this date, gyms and fitness centers, playgrounds, and indoor and outdoor public pools are indefinitely prohibited from opening.

To comply with the St. Louis County guidelines and regulations, we will not be opening The Pointe at Ballwin Commons, the North Pointe Aquatic Center, or any City playgrounds until further notice. Additionally, the order from St. Louis County did not allow for intentional gatherings of more than 10 individuals in a space, which will affect our programming, events, and summer camps. As of now, we plan to make a decision regarding the start of our 2020 Summer Camps in the upcoming weeks, or as soon as we receive new information from the County.

Pointe members will not be charged during this closure. For more information regarding the status of our memberships during this situation, please contact Recreation Manager Gayle Junge at gjunge@ballwin.mo.us.

Our golf course (located at 333 Holloway Road) and our five community parks (Vlasis, Ferris, New Ballwin, Holloway, and The Pointe) will continue to remain open. However, certain changes have been implemented for the health and safety of our guests and staff, and in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We ask that everyone exercise caution when visiting our outdoor recreation spaces by adhering to the social distancing guidelines (six feet between people), avoiding gathering in groups, and staying home if you’re sick. We, along with the CDC and St. Louis County, encourage you to wear cloth masks when out in the public.

The Ballwin Golf Course is currently open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. every day. On May 18th, we will resume normal operating hours (7 a.m. - 6 p.m.), but our club house will continue to remain closed until further notice. Please find the recent changes to our golf operations below:

  • We have started selling some concessions, including prepared snacks and bottled and canned beer, sodas, and other refreshments.
  • Flags are back up with certain modifications.
  • Carts will be available effective Saturday, May 9 on a first-come-first-served basis. All carts will be individually and thoroughly disinfected with a bleach solution upon return.
  • Payment is with credit card only (payment can be called into the Pro Shop).
  • We have removed all rakes and ball-washing stations, closed our putting green, and placed a Porta Potty outside.

This situation is ever evolving and subject to change. As soon as we receive new information from St. Louis County, we will revisit our current operations and provide additional updates. We have created a page on our City of Ballwin website dedicated to providing information regarding the direct impact of COVID-19 on the City’s facilities, programs, services, and events. We encourage you to check this frequently - ballwin.mo.us/COVID-19-Information
