Parks and Recreation COVID-19 Update

Last Updated 3.24.20

St. Louis County issued a Stay At Home Order, effective 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 23 until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 (unless otherwise notified). This order applies to all of St. Louis County, including the City of Ballwin. The new restrictions will require people to stay at home when possible but will ensure that residents can meet their basic needs and essential services will still be provided.

In an effort to adhere to this order, we have made a few changes to our recreation facilities and wanted to provide you with the following update from our Parks & Recreation department.

The Pointe at Ballwin Commons will remain closed through April 22nd, with tentative plans to reopen normal hours on Thursday, April 23. All programs, events, fitness classes, and rentals at The Pointe and our City parks are canceled through Friday, May 15. We understand this closing may be an inconvenience to many and we want to make sure you still get your money’s worth. Therefore, we will be providing the following accommodations for our members:
  • If you pay annually for your membership, you will receive an equal extension added to your memberships’ current expiration date.
  • If you pay monthly dues for your membership, we will not process debits until The Pointe reopens.
We will continue to monitor the situation and reevaluate as new information becomes available. If you have additional questions regarding memberships, please email Recreation Manager Gayle Junge at gjunge@ballwin.mo.us. If you have already registered for a now-canceled program, event, or class, you will receive a refund. As you can imagine, we are receiving an increased number of refunds and requests due to our COVID-19 cancellations. Therefore, we are unable to provide an estimated refund date, but we can assure you our finance department is working hard to process all requests in a timely manner.

Fortunately, this order does encourage the use of parks, trails, open space, and even allows individuals to play golf. We want to remind you that our parks and Golf Course (*see below) remain open! Fishing, walking, tennis, and pickleball are available at our parks, but please keep in mind the playground, restrooms, and water fountains are currently closed.

*The Ballwin Golf Course will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, we have made a few changes for the health and safety of our guests and staff.
  • Payment is with credit card only. The card numbers can be called into the Pro Shop and processed while maintaining social distance and without any physical contact.
  • No carts
  • No flags
  • No rakes
  • No ball washing stations
  • No food/beverage
  • Raised cups so no reaching into cups occurs
  • Interior facilities are closed. Porta Potty available outside.
  • No putting green
Please remember when visiting our parks and Golf Course, we ask that you adhere to the social distancing guidelines (six feet between people), avoid gathering in groups, and stay home if you’re sick.

This situation is constantly evolving and all information is subject to change. We encourage you to check our website frequently and follow us on social media for the most current information.

Lastly, we want to thank you for your understanding and patience. We are truly blessed with a fantastic group of residents and members, and can’t wait to reopen our facilities and get back to bringing this community together! In the meantime, we encourage you to take all the precautions recommended by the CDC to help keep our community safe and healthy!
