POSITION TITLE: Ballwin Summer Day Camp Lead Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation
SUPERVISOR: Camp Director
SALARY: Starting Salary $8.00per hour *negotiable
LOCATION: The Pointe at Ballwin Commons
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Camp Director. The Lead Counselor is responsible for carrying out daily activity plans, entertaining campers, and being a positive role model for participants. The Lead Counselor is to insure all safety risk management policies and procedures are followed. Lead Counselors will assist all other counselors and act as a liaison between the Camp Director and other Camp Staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Carry out daily activity plans
• Assists Camp Director in developing activity plans
• Supervise an assigned group throughout a full day of activities.
• Communicate effectively with Camp Director and parents.
• Attends field trips and assures risk and safety management is carried out
• Leads program activities
• Articulates camp rules to participants
• Interact with camp staff and participants while multi-tasking
• Role model the City of Ballwin Parks and recreation policies, procedures, and mission statement
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Ability to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to participate at a high level of energy for a long period of time.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. objects
• Maintain a professional and mature attitude toward responsibilities, fellow staff and parents
• Work effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the public
• Must be available to work June1, 2010-August 6, 2010
UNIFORM & EUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB:
Summer camp staff shirt, sport, khaki, navy blue, or olive shorts.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
• Attaining a degree in Parks and Recreation, Education or related field preferred
• Able to attain American Red Cross CPR certification soon after hire date
• Prior work experience with children is essential
• Ability to plan, organize and personally lead children in a variety of games, activities, sports, arts/crafts
• Prior customer service experience, leadership and/or staff supervision experience
• Ability to develop and maintain a professional working relationship with parents and children involved with the programs
• Experience leading and implementing the risk management system
• Must be available for a full summer at 40hours per week

SUPERVISOR: Recreation Specialist

LOCATION: The Pointe at Ballwin Commons
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Recreation Specialist, the Arts and Crafts Director will oversee all art activities for Ballwin Day Camps and Camp Little Feet. The Arts and Crafts Director will work one on one with the Camp Director and Camp Little Feet director to plan arts and crafts activities having to do with weekly themes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Carry out daily arts and crafts activity plans
• Develop activity plans
• Give instruction to campers and counselors on how to do projects
• Prepare for projects in a timely and organized fashion
• Communicate effectively with Camp Directors and Recreation Specialist
• Assure risk and safety management is carried out
• Assists camp directors in training staff
• Purchases materials while staying within a budget provided by the Recreation Specialist
• Interact with camp staff and participants while multi-tasking
• Role model the City of Ballwin Parks and recreation policies, procedures, and mission statement
• Other duties as assigned

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for safety and organization of the North Pointe Aquatic Center by enforcing rules and maintaining a clean environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Reports directly to the Pool Manager or Concession Manager
• Managing cleanliness of the concession area by emptying garbage, wiping tables, sweeping pool deck
• Maintaining safe and proper usage of the Lazy River including enforcing rules and regulations, organizing and handling lazy river equipment.
• Attends a Junior Employee course class prior to The North Pointe’s opening day.
• Notifies supervisors of hazardous areas and repairs needed in a timely manner.
• Is well groomed at all times. Wears city issued uniform at all times while working and maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
• Continually practices quality customer service. This includes staff/customer interaction and cleanliness and condition of North Pointe.
• Role model of the City of Ballwin Parks and Recreation policies, procedures and mission statement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Snow Plow Drivers
The City of Ballwin is accepting applications for part time truck drivers. Drivers must have a valid Missouri commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class B and clear driving record. The position involves plowing and salting City maintained streets. Experience driving one and two ton class snow plow trucks while simultaneously operating a snow plow and salt spreader is preferred. Salting and plowing begins several hours before the freezing precipitation commences and continues uninterrupted until all City streets are clear. Drivers must be available to work up to 12 hours per shift. Actual hours vary by winter storm. Hourly rate of pay will be $18.00.
