Ballwin Solar Power

The City of Ballwin has been awarded American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Energy Center.  This money was used to help pay for the installation of a 7.2 kilowatt solar photovoltaic array on the Ballwin Government Center located at 14811 Manchester Road.

The system was installed by Bightergy Solar Solutions and was funded by a Special Community Initiatives grant through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s (ARRA) Energize Missouri Communities. This grant was obtained through a joint application with the City of Manchester who also installed a system.

The system is estimated to produce approximately 860 kWh per month and over 10,000 per year. This will cut the consumption of Ameren Missouri electric by about 9% annually and save the City approximately $875 annually. Since the photovoltaic system will be providing the most energy during the peak energy usage times during mid-day in the summer months it is hoped that peak shavings will occur and lower our energy bills even more.
Residents can click on the link below and be connected to a page that monitors the electrical production of the system and projects savings and CO2 avoided.
