9.25.18 Board Meeting Recap

A budget planning session took place before the start of the board meeting. Each department gave an overview of preliminary expenditures for 2019, and the preliminary capital budget was presented. More budget discussions will take place at future meetings before the budget is finalized and adopted for 2019.

A Ballwin Board of Aldermen meeting was held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. A few highlights from the meeting are below as selected by staff. Official meeting minutes will be posted upon approval after the next Board of Aldermen meeting.

Legislation

Bill No. 4007 passed and became ordinance 18-12. This legislation authorizes the mayor to execute the municipal housing and community development annual agreement of 2018 as well as supplemental agreements.

Consent Items

The board approved the consent item in regards to awarding the printing of the Ballwin Life magazine for calendar year 2019 to the lowest bidder, A Graphic Resource.

Mayor’s Report

Mayor Pogue gave an update in regards to recent Missouri Municipal League discussions, shared that St. Louis County will be going out to bid to seal coat a portion of New Ballwin Road, and that he will be participating in the Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics in Feb.

City Administrator’s Report

City Administrator Hanson thanked staff for the work involved in starting the budget process. He outlined the upcoming next steps including reappropriation of 2018 funds in November before approving the final 2019 budget in December.

Staff Reports

Superintendent of Streets Jim Link requested authorization to bid on a used bucket truck to assist with tree removal and trimming. The request was approved.

City Attorney’s Report

City Attorney Jones followed up about an old lawsuit mentioned at a previous meeting and recommended releasing the restrictive covenant. The board voted to authorize the Mayor to sign that release.


The next Ballwin Board of Alderman meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 8 at 7 p.m.
