April 6, 2021 General Municipal Election Information

The General Municipal Election is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 6, 2021 for the offices of Mayor and Board of Aldermen (one Alderman from wards 1, 2, 3, and 4), each elected for a two-year term.

The deadline to register to vote in this election is Wednesday, March 10. To see if you're already registered to vote, click this link. If you are registered to vote in St. Louis County, you may vote at any County polling place. To find the polling place closest to you, use the polling place lookup feature here

It is important to note there have been a few changes in voting options (compared to the August and November 2020 elections), especially in regards to absentee voting. These changes include:

  • Mail-In Ballots no longer exist. The only option for voting via mail is absentee voting.
  • The COVID reason for absentee voting no longer exists. Voters will have to choose from one of the following six reasons:
    • Absent from St. Louis County on Election Day;
    • Incapacitated or confined due to sickness or disability, including caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to sickness or disability;
    • Restricted by religious belief or practice;
    • Employed by an election authority;
    • Incarcerated, although all necessary qualifications for voting have been retained;
    • A participant in the Missouri Safe at Home program

If a voter does not meet one of the six reasons listed above, he/she will only be able to cast their vote in-person at a polling place on Election Day. The absentee ballot application is available at www.stlouiscovotes.com and must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24.
