Like tornadoes, severe thunderstorms can be life-threatening. The National Weather Service has implemented a change that will give more information about the type of severe weather heading towards our area! 

Moving forward, there are three tiers of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, with the “Destructive” tier now setting off your cell phone through Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). 

Most importantly, we will now be sounding the Outdoor Warning Sirens for those thunderstorms that fit the ‘Destructive’ tier criteria.
