Parks & Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee

The City of Ballwin is looking for two people from each of the four Wards to serve on our newly created Parks & Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee. The members of the Parks & Recreation Citizen Adivsory Committee will be chosen some time in the next few months, and will be tasked with helping shape our City’s Parks & Recreation facilities, functions and future.

The eight people will be appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the Board of Aldermen. The members will be appointed for a staggered initial term of two members for one year, two members for two years and four members for three years. After the initial term, each ward specific member will be appointed for a three year term.


The Ballwin Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee shall have the following duties: 
(1) Advise the Mayor and Board of Aldermen with respect to preservation and enhancement of the City’s parks and recreation amenities. 
(2) Meet quarterly, unless otherwise called upon by City staff, Committee Chair, the Mayor or Board of Aldermen to meet. 
(3) Prepare and submit to the city an annual report on the activities of the committee during the previous year.
(4) Perform such other duties as may be requested by the Mayor and approved by a majority of the members of the Board of Aldermen. 
(5) No member of the committee shall receive compensation for services performed on behalf of the committee and/or the City. 
(6) No member of the committee or voluntary member shall financially obligate or commit the Ballwin Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee or the City without first securing the approval of the Board of Aldermen.
