This Month's Message from the Mayor
Dear Friends, Welcome to February! While the snow is still on the ground, we survived the blizzard of 2026! Thanks to our awesome Public Works employees for their great job, they worked 24/7 to clear our roads and make our city streets safe to drive! At our January Board of Aldermen meetings, we approved a multitude of bids and projects to begin implementing the record investments that will be underway in our streets, sidewalks, parks and public safety. These include a new children’s play area in the indoor pool, along with other updates to our great facilities, including a way to make the indoor pool water a bit warmer. Plus, a record number of streets are slated for work in the year ahead. Hopefully we are done with snow, but if we get another storm, please help our crews get your street cleaned. If the plows have to navigate around cars parked in the street, it makes it difficult, if not impossible, to effectively clear the snow on that street. If the snow is coming, please move your cars off the street. In fact, if more than two inches of snow falls, a snow emergency is declared and any cars parked on the street may be ticketed. Enough talk off winter, Spring is just a few weeks away! Once again, our great Parks and Recreation staff is busy planning for Spring and Summer programs. Starting to think about what your kids will do this summer? Registration is now open for residents to sign their kids up for our awesome summer camps. A couple of fun events are planned for the Event Center at the Ballwin Golf Course in February. The Sweetheart Ball will be on February 20th and the next night, Dad’s bring your daughter to the annual Daddy Daughter Dance! And if you're looking for a great place for a family gathering check out our Event Center for hosting! I know you might not be thinking about summer days by the pool, but if the cold weather has you daydreaming about floating down the Lazy River, the time to act is now! Discounted passes are available thru April 30th for North Pointe Aquatic Center. Later this month, the new Parks Maintenance facility should be completed adjacent to the Public Works yard. Once this project is completed, the rest of the former Police Department site will be converted to park space, creating 1.4 acres of green space to Vlasis Park. I am proud to work with a great group of elected officials and a dedicated city staff. We are here to serve you and are committed to making Ballwin an even greater place tolive, work, play and raise our families. We thank you for the opportunity to serve you!
