This Month's Message from the Mayor
Dear Friends, While the temperatures may not show it, summertime is winding down! The school buses are back on the road and before you know it, fall will be here! It was a great summer in Ballwin, and I hope you and your family enjoyed the fun and activities around our great community as much as my family did! It was great to see so many of you at Ballwin Days last month! Thank you for being there and a special thanks to those who came up and said hello to my family and me. The warm temperatures didn’t stop the fun and the record-breaking attendance! A special thanks to the Ballwin Days Committee, and our amazing City Staff for making it such a great event! The highlight of the festivities for me was the opportunity to present the Ballwin Resident of the Year Award to Laura Seithel! Laura was honored for her years of dedication to the Woerther Elementary School students and community. To honor Laura, I declared August 14th Laura Seithel in the City of Ballwin. You can read more about Laura in the next issue of Ballwin Life Magazine! Fall does not mean that the fun stops in Ballwin! While North Pointe Aquatic Center will closed after Labor Day, we will not be closing the doors for the year until our furry friends get a chance to enjoy the water at the annual Dog Swim on September 8th . They get to enjoy the water from 4:30 to 7:00! Ballwin is so fortunate to have our great recreational facilities. Have you seen the awesome improvements going on at the Pointe at Ballwin Commons? There is new signage, new flooring, new equipment and much more. As of this writing, the contractors are working feverishly to complete the renovations of the indoor pool. It will re-open soon with a brand-new children’s play area, a refurbished slide and much more! My son and I can’t wait! Looking for some September fun? Mark September 12th on your calendars! Bring your kids to the Target Parking Lot for the Tons of Trucks event from 10 am to 12 pm. The lot will be filled with fire trucks, ambulances, dump trucks and more. Your kids can wander around them, climb on them, sit in them and admire them. They will love it! Then that afternoon, the annual Craft Beer Special will take place at Vlasis Park from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. You can buy tickets here. At our Board of Aldermen meeting on August 10th , the Board of Aldermen passed legislation regulating the use of e-bikes, scooters and other motorized vehicles on city streets. This is a complicated issue, as there are so many different types of vehicles and the technologies keep changing. We spent several months working with city staff to come up with regulations that keep everyone safe while still allowing these vehicles to be enjoyed. Check out the rules listed here. Did we miss anything? Did we get anything wrong? We want to hear from you! I welcome you to share your ideas with me or your Aldermen! I hope everyone has a great September! As always if you have any questions give me a call or follow me on social media at #BallwinMayorMark! Thank You, Mayor Mark
