This Month's Message from the MayorFriends, Thankfully the oppressive St. Louis summer heat has finally broken! Plus, the weather forecasts call for great weather in the weeks ahead. August looks like a great time to enjoy the outdoors and all our great Ballwin Parks and the outdoor fun they offer! My favorite weekend of the year is just two weeks away! Mark your calendars for Ballwin Days, August 14th-17th. The fun starts with a “soft opening” on Thursday, August 14th, rides only. The full festival starts Friday afternoon and continues until Sunday afternoon. It will be my honor to participate in the Opening Ceremony on Friday between the evening’s two concerts. As part of the Grand Opening, we will officially kick off the celebration of the 75Th Anniversary of our great city. If you haven’t heard yet, Ballwin was officially incorporated on December 29, 1950. Watch these newsletters and Ballwin Life Magazine for more information on our celebration in the months ahead. Friday and Saturday nights at Ballwin Days will feature two concerts each night. This year the concert stage will be back on the Government Center parking lot. There will be plenty of room for your lawn chairs and/or blankets to relax and enjoy the music on the great green space in front of the Government Centrer and our awesome new playground. My family and I will be there, for the music and the great fireworks show both nights at 9:15. Ballwin Days will also feature carnival rides for the young and young at heart! Plus there will be dozens of vendors offering a wide variety of food and drinks, as well as a variety of snacks and other merchandise for your consideration. There will also be a 5K run, pickleball tournament, car show, kids corner and lots of other fun activities. For a complete schedule for Ballwin Days, click here. As we wrap up Summer fun in Ballwin, there are a few other activities around Ballwin. The summer concert series at New Ballwin Park concludes with concerts on August 6th and August 13th. Bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets and enjoy these free concerts. Bring your own snacks, dinner and beverages if you like. Plus, if you forget, the Boy Scouts will be there selling snacks and refreshments. This is the last month to enjoy North Point Aquatic Center. Once school resumes for many on August 18th, North Pointe will only be open on the weekends. The last day will be on Labor Day, Monday September 1st. It looks like it will be great weather to say goodbye to summer with a float down the Lazy River. I hope I see you at Ballwin Days! If you see my family there, please stop by and say hello!
