This Month's Message from the Mayor
Dear Friends, Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year celebration! After the unseasonably warm Christmas weather, the January freeze is upon us. But have no fear, before we know it Spring will be upon us! I want to begin by thanking everyone who participated in our great 75th Birthday celebration at the Pointe on December 27th and 28th. Over 300 people came by to check out the awesome facilities at The Pointe, look at the historical photos and enjoy Birthday cupcakes. On December 29, 1950, Ballwin was officially incorporated under the laws of Missouri with a population of 750 people. Today we have grown to a community of over 31,000 people. I hope you are as proud as I am of the great city we have become. Now that leaf season is behind us our awesome Public Works employees are ready to tackle whatever Mother Nature throws or way this winter! It is always great to hear what a fabulous job they do keeping our streets plowed and safe. They need your help to keep your streets drivable. Under Ballwin ordinance it is illegal to park a car on the street during a snow emergency, which is two inches or more on the ground. If the snow is coming, please get your, and any guests, cars of the streets. Speaking of streets, you will see a lot of activity around Ballwin this year. The 2026 budget approved by the Board of Aldermen last month contains a record investment in streets and sidewalks through-out our city. Your elected officials are dedicated to investing in our streets, sidewalks and parks and recreation facilities throughout Ballwin! Already thinking about what your children will be doing this summer? So is the great staff at our Ballwin Parks and Recreation Department. Resident & Pointe member registration starts February 1st for our Summer Camp Programs. Don’t wait! Sign up right away so that your kids can be part of a great Summer Camp experience. I know it doesn’t seem like it but soon it will be swimming pool weather. Check out the early bird specials for North Pointe Aquatic Facility and enjoy the fun this Summer! The end of 2025 marked the retirement of two outstanding Ballwin employees. Our Assistant Director, John Hoffman has retired from our Parks Department after 46 years of service to Ballwin. Steve Ruby has retired from our Public Works Department after 35 years of service. I know all of you join me in thanking them for their outstanding service to our community and wishing them the very best as they begin this new chapter in their lives! If you have any questions or suggestions about anything happening in Ballwin, please never hesitate to contact me or your Aldermen! We always want your input and ideas! If you are on Facebook, follow the City of Ballwin for immediate information about what is happening in town. Also, I welcome you to follow me on Facebook at #BallwinMayorMark!! Finally, I want to thank all of you for the opportunity you have given me to serve our great city. It was my honor to be Ward 2 Alderman for 10 years and Mayor since April! I look forward to a great 2026! Happy New Year! Mayor Mark
